SEVEN GREAT WAYS TO DESTRESS YOURSELF

After studying years of stress management and developing my program destress yourself  I have come to the conclusion that there are seven keys to destress yourself with basic stress management.

What is basic stress management? Well, it consists of the basic actions we can do to enhance our ability to manage our stress. These actions are clear-cut and critical. These fundamental keys should be a part of our daily lives and they play an important part in our level of energy. It takes energy to manage stress.

SEVEN GREAT WAYS TO DESTRESS YOURSELF

1. A positive attitude
- A positive attitude increases our happiness, energy, and vitality. Attitude is everything! When we have a positive attitude we see things that are good in our lives, we feel grateful for what we have, and we are in a good mood.

2. Eat right
- When we eat right we have energy. When we eat unhealthy foods our energy goes to digesting food and our body does not get the vitamins and nutrients it needs to sustain endurance. Eating right consists of eating foods that give us nourishment like fruits, vegetables, nuts, and lean meat proteins, sparingly. In other words, natural foods and non processed foods.

3. Exercise - When we exercise we create feel good neurotransmitters and we feel good about ourselves. Exercise also allows us to sleep deeper, and better, at night. Regular exercise also helps create more energy for the next day.

4. Get plenty of rest
- This is essential for our energy and our mood. Plenty of sleep at night enhances our mood and blesses us with alertness. When we are alert our thought process works more efficiently and our memory is improved. Don't you notice when you don't get enough sleep you become moodier and more irritable? When we don't get enough rest we become physically, mentally, and emotionally exhausted and that definitely increases our stress.

5. Eliminate unhealthy habits
- Unhealthy habits like smoking, drinking alcohol, and self-medicating with over the counter and pharmaceutical medications, depletes our energy and increases our irritability. Many of these unhealthy habits create vitamin deficiencies and reduces our ability to get good rest. When we engage in unhealthy behaviors that elevate and depress our moods we become short tempered because we rely on outside sources to enhance our feelings of happiness. People with addictions are some of the most stressed out people I know. Believe me, I know a lot of stressed out people. :-)

6. Do things that you enjoy
- This one is self explanatory. Do what you enjoy! Sometimes it has been such a long time since we have done something we enjoyed we forget what it is we enjoy. It does not take money to find and do something we enjoy. This key may require some research on our own part and if it does then, my guess is, stress levels are very, very high.

7. Spend time with people you enjoy being with - This is another self explanatory key. If you do not have anyone in your life that you enjoy being with, I do not have to guess that stress levels are very, very high, it is a given!

Now that we have the seven major keys to destress yourself, with basic stress management, what do we do? We evaluate each and every key on a number scale.

Let's use a number scale of 1 to 10. A number "1" would indicate that you do not do this particular activity at all and a number "10" would indicate that you are a pro at this particular activity. Go through each key and rate yourself from 1 to 10.

Then pick and prioritize each key you would like to work on to improve your basic stress management and to destress yourself. If you do not know which one you would like to work on, may I suggest you pick the keys with the lowest numbers first.

I love this stuff because it is very important!

Please don't just read this post, apply it.

Get your pen and paper out and do this exercise, prioritize the keys, and get to working on destressing yourself.
